Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Good. First Edition (Second issue?). First Edition (Second issue?). Hardcover. Formerly owned by Oliver Sacks (unsigned). Vignette Illustrations on Wood by Samuel Palmer. Pictures from Italy is a travelogue by Charles Dickens, written in 1846. The book reveals the concerns of its author as he presents, according to Kate Flint, the country "like a chaotic magic-lantern show, fascinated both by the spectacle it offers, and by himself as spectator." From the library of Dr. Oliver Sacks, the renowned neurologist, author, and educator. He was, in his life, celebrated for his contributions to the understanding of the human brain and his ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a broader audience. In doing so, he highlighted the profound impact of neurological disorders on human identity and experience. His library is a reflection of this remarkable polymath's questing mind. Complete loss to front board, moderate shelf wear/rubbing to extremities and bumped/chipped corners, spotting, spine worn, foxing throughout, discoloration/browning (plates show light toning and spotting), else tight, bright, and unmarred. Quarter green calf over textured boards. 8vo. 269pp. illus (b/w). No issue points.
