It comprehensively portrays the entire journey of agriculture transformation in India and further reflects upon its present and future challenges along with pragmatic solutions for dealing with them. The book broadly comprises of four sections, in one of the sections it presents an illustrative picture of political economy of Agriculture development in India. In the same section it highlights the major agriculture challenges like of climate change, enhancing and augmenting farmers income, marketing related issues. Based on various comprehensive research studies another section of the book analyses the labour force participation in agriculture and non-agriculture sector and explores the role of women in agriculture development. The other segment of the book effectively portrays and presents the case studies which not only depicts the success stories in field of agriculture and rural development but also suggests the practical road map for policy makers in the country. The fourth section while presenting the picture of Mountain agriculture of the country examines its various challenges along with presenting the immense opportunities and possibilities. Overall the books caters to the need and requirements of learners, researchers and policy makers working or are interested in the field of agriculture and rural development.

Mycorrhiza for growth enhancement and pathogen suppression in black pepper/M. Anandaraj. Index. Many plants benefit greatly from symbiotic relationship with soil fungi known as mycorrhizal fungi. These fungi live on and in the root systems of plants and provide nutrients to the plant in exchange for carbohydrates exuded by the plants. Some of the ecological uses of mycorrhizae include (i) enhancing plant growth and disease resistance (ii) improving transplant success (iii) building soil structure. (iv) reducing fertilizer dependency and (v) accelerating revegetation of degraded lands. While over 80 per cent of the Terrestrial Plants Show Mycorrhizal Association the depth of its application towards industries seems to be under exploited. Moreover severe deforestation and land degradation have removed the host plants from the habitats giving way to loss of diversity of the mycorrhizal fungi. Particularly this problem is acute in the tropical region of the world where various natural calamities such as floods landslides fire etc. in addition to the human exploitation of natural resources have degraded the major part of the ecosystems. Although causes are known strategies to rebuild the degraded systems remain bliss. There are many national and international journals that bring out the information about the mycorrhizal fungi and their symbiotic relationship with plants but the recent knowledge is almost in scattered state. This scattered information could be kept i.

Achieving the 'lofty Goal 4' of the UNSDGs, which aims to 'ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all', 'will require the entire education system to be reconfigured'- a fact as aptly underlined in the National Education Policy 2020 of India. This would essentially entail putting in place a very effective educational governance devised and formulated on the basis of cutting edge research outputs. Three Volumes of the present book is a modest yet maiden attempt to comprehend and unfold the blending of diverse research methodologies and amply demonstrate, through empirical findings, that innovative policies and interventions curated on the basis of this approach of research can ensure quality education. Governance emerges as one of the core areas for research. Therefore, Volume I provides a wide canvas of governance in general and educational governance in particular for research along with a unique opportunity to elaborate both the theory and practice of Quantitative, Qualitative and Participatory Methodologies in researching governance that is the frontier challenge looking for suitable answers. Volume II uniquely comprehends multiple aspects of quality in dynamic and wider perspectives as perceived by the primary stakeholders including community. Refreshing insight into the quality perspectives of educational governance will facilitate the researchers to explore innovative interventions in respective areas of human development. 'Community' is the third constituent of governance along with the 'state' and the 'market'. Therefore, Volume III explores a futuristic vision of community governance leading to quality education. Also an attempt has been made to critically appraise the provisioning of community governance including the local self-governments as well as free and compulsory elementary education. The Book is a live comprehension of the conceptual framework of research and methods along with handling of research problems at the ground. It is like explaining 'how to' by giving suitable case-studies conducted by the authors on educational governance. It is hoped that the three Volumes will be an exciting learning experience that would enable us to address researching challenges over which the public policy makers, researchers, development administrators, planners and students may build their concepts, logical structures and planned interventions facilitating the achievement of effective educational governance at micro-level ensuring quality education in the coming decades.

They are our closest neighbour and comprise one of the biggest kingdom in the living world. There are more than 1 lac species of fungi known which grow and multiply in all divers habitats in nature. Due to indiscriminate exploitation and habitat destruction a substantial part of the world biodiversity is being concomitantly regularly lost. Who know many of microbes could be extinct well before we are ready to recognize them Unfortunately a little attention has been paid towards this direction. Their management and exploitation for the betterment of mankind is must. The utilization and application of fungi by mankind has a long and varied history. Uses of fungi for mankind has broadened and grown considerably in the last 100 years. A well known example of this includes the discovery and production of antibiotics and wider utilization of fungi in the food industry, where they are used in the production of compounds and enzymes for food processing. The association of many fungi with plants has resulted in their use in agriculture as both biological control agents against plant pests and disease and as plant growth stimulants such as Mycorrhizal inoculants. Though there are many national and international Journals that bring out information about fungi and microbes but the recent knowledge is almost in scattered state. It could be kept in a book/ monograph at one place to provide up-to-date information about mycological research especially being done in different corner of India. It is an excellent collection of 30 original research/ review articles of eminent mycologists personalities from different corners of India including Nepal. It is doubtless to say that this monograph would be very useful to all scientists, teachers, students and readers whosoever is interested on mycology and mycological literatures.
