Profusely illustrated book designed to introduce a child to the world that he/she lives in. Little Golden books ares known for illustrated heavy cardboard covers with a staple binding. The interior pages have NO writing, tears or creases. The pages are still bright despite age. All pages firmly attached - NO loose or lost pages. This is NOT an ex-lib NOR is it a remainder. Illustrated covers show soiling & rubbing throughout. Illustration on cardboard covers is colorful. Boards are well attached and NOT heavily creased or broken. Book size is approximately 6.75"W by 8"L. See pictures. Rare to find a 70+ year old children's book that is in very good condition.

The Very Good binding is staple-bound, illustrated paper over boards with a foil spine, the front cover shows a globe of the world with various illustrations below the globe, with red and black lettering, the rear cover has advertising for The Little Golden Library, the pages show some toning. The binding is tight and the pages are clean. The lovely color illustrations by William Sayles can be found at the turn of every page. The book measures 6.7" wide x 8.0" tall. First Edition, "A" is present on the last page. About the publishers: The Little Golden Books were printed in September 1942 and for sale in stores in October. One and a half million books were sold in just five months. With an initial series of twelve titles each having a print run of 50,000 copies, the first Little Golden Books were priced at a very affordable 25 cents each. Little Golden Books started with publishing firm Simon & Schuster; Western Printing and Lithographing Company in Racine, Wisconsin was Simon & Schuster's partner in the Little Golden Books venture, with Western handling print operations. All stamps accounted for, some of the edges have started to tear but none are torn out. It appears one of the stamps did stick to the page behind it and has been pulled off, pulling some of the page with it, but it is still useable and the page is still understandable.
