Sie kämpften gegen soziale Missstände, für ihre eigenen staatsbürgerlichen Rechte und nicht zuletzt auch immer wieder für eine Demokratie in Chile. Was haben sie heute erreicht Wodurch haben sie Veränderungen erzielen können Frauen in Chile mussten seit dem Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts sehr große Veränderungen durchleben. Aber ihr Aufbegehren war nicht umsonst und ausgehend von einer heute in Chile bestehenden Demokratie lassen sich zudem durchaus Erfolge auf gesellschaftlicher und politischer Ebene ausmachen.Das in dieser Arbeit zu untersuchende Thema ist derartig weitläufig, sodass es sich schwer in einer solch begrenzten Spanne an Seiten völlig bearbeiten lässt. Es verläuft hingegen über Grenzen hinweg und hängt immer wieder von den politischen sowie auch wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Gegebenheiten des Landes ab. Vor allem die geschichtlichen Hintergründe sind von großer Bedeutung, um die Entwicklung der Rolle der Frau in Chile darzustellen. Allerdings erwies sich die hierzu bereitgestellte Literatur als außerordentlich spärlich, da in den meisten Werken mit einer Untersuchung der Veränderung der traditionellen Rollenverteilung zwischen Mann und Frau erst im Zusammenhang mit der Allende-Regierung begonnen wird. Die vorherigen, doch ebenso interessanten Aspekte, die zur Veränderung der Rolle der Frau beitrugen, werden in der Literatur kaum oder zumeist überhaupt nicht zur Sprache gebracht. Somit liegen der hier vorliegenden Arbeit in der Hauptsache die Werke von Iris Stolz und Barbara Potthast zugrunde. Im Wesentlichen hat die Literatur jedoch zum Thema der Entwicklung der Rolle der Frau in Chile - vor allem im 19. Jahrhundert - noch zu wenig hervorgebracht.Nach einem kurzen Einblick in die traditionelle Rollenverteilung zwischen Mann und Frau in Chile im ausgehenden 18. Jahrhundert, folgt die Entwicklung der Rolle der Frau vom 19. zum 20. Jahrhundert, wobei immer ein Augenmerk auf den historischen Hinter-grund gelegt wird, der bezeichnend für entsprechende Veränderungen im Leben der Frauen war. (Pleines, Jochen 1989) Ausgehend von dieser Definition der Sprache, welcher hier ein sehr hoher Rang zukommt, ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass sich in Lateinamerika mit der Einwanderung vieler Deutschstämmiger zahlreiche deutsche Sprachinseln etabliert haben. Genauer in Augenschein genommen werden in der vorliegenden Arbeit die Sprachinseln in Südbrasilien und in Süd-Chile. Dabei stehen hauptsächlich die Aspekte des Sprachkontaktes im Vordergrund.Während im ersten Abschnitt der Arbeit ein kurzer historischer Rückblick ausgehend von der genauen Eingrenzung der Gebiete, in denen die Sprachinseln heute noch existieren, über die Entstehung der deutschen Sprachinseln bis hin zur Herausbildung der dialektalen Varietäten gegeben wird, beschäftigt sich der daran anschließende Abschnitt mit dem soziolinguistischen Vergleich beider deutscher Sprachinseln.Dabei soll vor allem der zweite Part Auskunft über ihre heutige Situation geben und inwieweit die Sprachinseln heute noch existent sind. Der Vergleich soll zeigen, ob sich die bestimmten Faktoren, die für den dialektalen Spracherhalt bzw. -verfall verantwortlich sind, ähneln oder weit auseinander gehen. Des Weiteren steht zum Schluss die Frage der möglichen Weiterexistenz der dialektalen Varietäten im Fokus. Vor allem in Bezug auf diese Frage, wird sich allerdings eine Beantwortung oder sogar Klärung als außerordentlich schwierig erweisen. Eine Frage also, die sich vielleicht nur, einhergehend mit der weiteren Verfolgung der deutschen Sprachinseln in Lateinamerika, in den nächsten Jahrzehnten klären lässt.Besonders eine umfangreiche, wenn auch heute leider nicht mehr so aktuelle Literatur über diese beiden deutschen Sprachinseln, macht eine umfangreiche Analyse dessen möglich und lässt dennoch auch darüber hinaus noch viel Raum für weitere Untersuchungen.
