An Oberst Adolf Friedrich von Oppen (17621834), der ihm einen Verweis erteilt hatte, weil er an seiner Behauptung festhielt, daß ein ihm Untergebener zu Unrecht beschuldigt worden sei: [.] Was indes meine Behauptung anbetrifft, daß [.] Zach [?] [.] in den mehrsten Punkten fälschlich angeklagt seie,… ist meiner vollen Überzeugung [.] gemäß, daher ich diese Behauptung nicht zurückzunehmen im Stande bin, sondern selbige vielmehr wiederholen muß. [I]ch getraue mich sie nöthigen Falles näher darzuthun, daher es mich [!] sehr nahe geht, annoch auch ihrer wegen mich [!] ein Verweiß von Ew. Hochwohlgeborn zugezogen zu haben, den ich nicht einmal im Lauffe eines Kriege[s] mich [!] zuzog, so für mich nicht unehrenvol[l] außgefallen sein kann [.]". Der Sohn eines Kavallerieoffiziers bewährte sich 1806/07 im Kampf gegen Napoleon und wurde nach seinem Einsatz bei der Verteidigung Kolbergs Kommandeur der aus seinen Reitern gebildeten kgl. Leibgarde. Ohne Wissen des Königs Friedrich Wilhelm III. rückte Schill 1809 mit seinem Regiment aus, um Österreich im Kampf gegen Napoleon zu unterstützen und den zögernden preußischen Herrscher zu militärischem Handeln zu bewegen. Dieser mißbilligte die Eigenmächtigkeit Schills, der sich nach kleineren Erfolgen nach Stralsund zurückziehen mußte, wo er im Straßenkampf fiel. Nur ein kleiner Teil seines Regiments konnte sich nach Preußen in Sicherheit bringen, die übrigen Mitglieder gerieten in französische Gefangenschaft. Elf seiner Offiziere wurden in Wesel standrechtlich erschossen" (DBE). Etwas gebräunt und leicht fleckig.
