Das immer noch relativ junge Medium Film steht in einem spannungsgeladenen Verhältnis zur alten Kunst. Zudem wird das künstlerische Potenzial des Biopics mit seiner Heroisierung und Mythologisierung der dargestellten Künstlerinnen und Künstler als eigenständige filmische Form mit einer spezifischen Ästhetik analysiert.
