Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: very good. Signed and inscribed by the editor on the title page, "To George Fry - Thanks! W.A. Schoneberger 12/03." Red leatherette hardcover with gilt titles, in dustjacket. No indication of printing. A very good copy with minor bending to the spine tips. Hinges are solid but lacking tightness and binding is strong. All pages clean and unmarked. The unclipped jacket is also very good with a few scuffs and crinkles, and a shallow indention to the spine panel. 416 pp., indexed, some black and white photos. Schoneberger is famous in his own right for arranging the home and upkeep of the Spruce Goose, currently here in Oregon which is likely the source of the signed copy.

Hardcover. Condizione: As New. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. As new condition red faux leather boards, gold front cover lettering and gold spine lettering contained in a fine condition non price-clipped photographic dust jacket. Includes Author Dedication; Foreword by Donald J. Atwood; Acknowledgments; Introduction; Epilogue and Index. Illustrated with a section of black-and-white photographic plates and black-and-white photographic front and rear endpapers. "In this definitive autobiography of the man who helped build one of this country's premier aerospace companies, L.A. "Pat" Hyland studiously documents the trials, traumas, and triumphs of a career that took him from Navy radioman to molder of America's space policy to principal architect of Hughes Aircaft - perhaps the most visible legacy of the mysterious billionaire Howard Hughes. As the head of Hughes Aircraft from the 1950s until his retirement in 1980, Hyland would become one of the world's most successful businessmen, personally molding Hughes Aircraft through its most aggressive, high-tech era into a position of electronic and satellite technology leadership that prevails to this day. An inordinately private and unassuming gentleman, Hyland was a true Renaissance man with wide-ranging interests and talents - inventor, engineer, executive - who fought in World War I, pioneered radio research, worked with Admiral Byrd, and ultimately established the earliest principles of radar and clear aircraft radio transmission. And as the businessman perhaps closest to the eccentric Hughes, Pat Hyland reveals perspectives of his high level, secretive dealings with the fabled mystery man of aviation, movies, and the business world. Revealing in its insights and fascinating in its conclusions, Call Me Pat is a must-read for students of business, high technology, adventure, and one of the most fascinating personalities of our time." - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps.
