Alain Bordier assembled (mostly with the help of Ulrich von Schroeder) a comprehensive, museum quality collection of about 600 objects and founded his private Tibet Museum at Gruyères, where he converted an old chapel to a museum of religious art from the Himalayas - an impressive atmosphere. 18 masterpieces are illustrated in this book, including works by the 10th Karmapa in his unique style. Frontispiece of the "naked Jowo" at the Jokhang, Lhasa. A very rare photo the monks try to avoid to be taken, even though they are happy to perform the gilding ceremony sponsored by Westerners. Condizione: Sehr gut. Originalbroschur, 103 Seiten, sehr zahlreiche farbige und s/w Abbildungen, Karte, sehr gut erhalten. Hervorragend, recht unterschätzter Katalog einer Ausstellung vom 28. April bis 19. Juni 1976 in der Galeri im Rathaus, Berlin-Tempelhof, mit vielen frühen Bronzen und Thangkas, oft aus Privatsammlungen, aber zB auch aus dem Museum für Indische Kunst Berlin, die man selten zu sehen bekommt. Vor allem aus der von Schroeder Sammlung - eine Skulptur aus der Sammlung wurde im November 2016 zu dem bisher höchsten Preis für eine tibetische Statue verkauft, mehr als EUR 5 Millionen. Eine großartige Statue des Maitreya, ehemals Sammlung Beasley, S.34/35 befindet sich heute im Tibet Museum, Fodation Alain Bordier, in Gruyères/Schweiz, ebenso die wunderbare Statue eines Akshobhya im Pala Stil (S. 23), die sich auch einmal in der Sammlung von Michael Henss befand. Einer der Besitzer hat die Gesichtsvergoldung, die in der Abbildung in diesem Katalog noch vorhanden ist, entfernen und die gebrochenen Finger der rechten Hand etwas ausbessern lassen (Sammlungsnr. Tibet Museum A-B-S 203 - das Tibet Museum hat eine Postkarte von der Statue fertigen lassen). Auch einige Objekte aus der Sammlung von Helmut Uhlig (bezeichnet als Privatsammlung Berlin).
