A FIRST EDITION, first printing, from 1949, this hardcover small 8vo has… cream-colored paper over boards colorfully decorated with a watercolor illustration of 2 children being greeted by a smiling gnome; spine wrapped in red cloth, lettered in black. Condition is VG+: very clean & bright, minor spotting to both boards with light soil & fading/discoloration to rear. Internal pages bright & clean, binding strong & straight, illustrations vivid.
