Along with the requirement that listed companies located in Europe as of 1st January 2005 should prepare their consolidated financial statement in accordance with International Accounting Standards (IAS), more and more companies all over the world (freely or by obligation) are preparing and publishing their consolidated accounts applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Using international accounting systems like IAS / IFRS with its central principle of 'decision usefulness' makes it possible respectively obligatory to meet the information needs of a HBR by ' . reducing the information asymmetry between providers and recipients of capital . ' . 'To be relevant to investors, creditors, and other for investment, credit and similar decision, [IAS / IFRS] accounting information must be capable of making difference in a decision by helping users to form predictions about the outcomes of past, present, and future events or to confirm correct expectations.'By calling for 'decision useful' information within IAS / IFRS accounting one could ask why the collected information is only used for external business reporting. With its holistic approach, business reporting and its underlying informative basis determined by the principles and rules from IAS / IFRS provides the opportunity to use it as an internal control system in order to support managerial decisions as well. Or, to see it from a different angle, if 'decision useful' information to prepare IAS / IFRS consolidated accounts are already gathered, it is to be questioned how CG can use them within the decision-making processes.Hence, the main goal of this elaboration is to figure out to what degree and how CG can benefit from 'decision useful' information that holistic business reporting in accordance with IAS / IFRS holds.Therefore the present thesis, as the title already suggests, primarily deals with the analysis of (1st) what information HBR on the basis of IAS / IFRS accounting providesand (2nd) to what extent information from holistic business reporting is useful for corporate governance.Finally, this thesis will draw a conclusion on the analysis whether CG can be based on holistic business reporting in accordance with IAS / IFRS accounting and summarize its new insights in the topics of CG and HBR.

Dezember 1939 in Basbeck/Niederelbe) ist ein deutscher Schriftsteller und ehemaliger DKP-Funktionär. Nachdem Schütt bereits früh in Hamburg mit marxistischen Kreisen in Berühr…ung gekommen war, gehörte er 1968 zu den Mitbegründern der Deutschen Kommunistischen Partei. . Schütt stellte seine literarischen Werke - in erster Linie Gedichte und Reportagen - ganz in den Dienst der kommunistischen Ideologie, was ihm den Titel "Hofdichter der DKP" eintrug. Er engagierte sich in der westdeutschen Friedensbewegung und unternahm als Funktionär zahlreiche Reisen, u. a. in die Länder des Ostblocks, nach Vietnam und in die USA. Als sich Peter Schütt in den 1980er Jahren offen zum reformerischen Kurs des neuen Generalsekretärs der KPdSU, Michail Gorbatschow, bekannte, kam es zum Zerwürfnis mit der DKP-Führung. Im September 1988 wurde Schütt aus dem Parteivorstand ausgeschlossen; kurz darauf trat er aus der Partei aus. Daum fest, dass ¿ ¿ das Reengineering [der Geschäftsprozesse] auf die Managementprozesse auszudehnen und eine geeignete, unterstützende informationstechnische Infrastruktur für sie zu schaffen [sei], die die bereits getätigten Investitionen in ERP-Systeme nutzt.¿ Da mittlerweile eine Vielzahl von Unternehmen aus unterschiedlichsten Branchen erfolgreich auf ein ERP-System wie SAP R/3 migriert haben, wurden die technischen Voraussetzungen für weit reichende Auswertungsmöglichkeiten geschaffen. Die gestiegene Nachfrage nach Analyse- und Reporting-Tools, die die Informationspotentiale der in den ERP-Systemen gepflegten Daten erschließen, belegt diesen Trend. Speziell in den Führungsetagen wird zunehmend ein lückenloses Berichts- und Informationswesen gefordert, da die Anforderungen an das Management seitens der Stakeholder sowie aufgrund des generell verschärften Wettbewerbs im In- und Ausland sich stetig verändern und erweitern. Nur durch die richtige informationstechnische Unterstützung der Managementprozesse ist es möglich, rechtzeitig die entsprechenden Informationen bereitzustellen. Mit Hilfe der für das Management aufbereiteten Daten können kritische Entwicklungen innerhalb des Unternehmens erkannt, zeitnah strategische Entscheidungen abgeleitet und entsprechende Gegenmaßnahmen umgesetzt werden. Damit den Entscheidungsträgern sämtliche relevanten Informationen zur Verfügung stehen, werden so genannte Management Cockpit Räume zusammengestellt. Dies sind Kollektionen von virtuellen Management Cockpits, die unter ergonomischen Gesichtspunkten strukturiert und verständlich die wichtigsten Key Performance Indicators für das Performance Measurement einer Unternehmung darstellen. In vielen Unternehmen befindet sich ein entsprechendes Berichtswesen noch im Aufbau. Daher steht z. Z. die Einrichtung von Management Cockpits für einzelne Unternehmensbereiche, wie beispielsweise für das Personalcontrolling oder den Einkauf, im Vordergrund aus denen dann später ein unternehmensübergreifender Management Cockpit Raum zusammengestellt werden kann.
