Haller, Albrecht von (1708 Bern - 1777 Bern; 1729 praktischer Arzt und Stadtbibliothekar in Bern. 1736-1753 Professor für Medizin, Anatomie, Botanik und Chirurgie an der Universität in Göttingen. 1751 Mitbegründer und erster Präsident der Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen. 1753 Rückkehr nach Bern; hier in verschiedenen Staatsämtern tätig. Zwischen 1723 und 1728 Aufenthalt in Deutschland, Holland, England und Frankreich. H. wirkte als Naturforscher, Arzt und Dichter. Er wird als einer der größten Universalgelehrten der Schweiz bezeichnet. .

Chamisso, Adalbert von (1781 Schloß Boncourt/Champagne - 1838 Berlin); deutscher Dichter und Naturforscher. 1801-1806 Offizier in preußischen Diensten. Danach längerer Aufenthalt in Frankreich und in der Schweiz. Seit 1811 in Berlin. 1815-1818 Teilnehmer an der russischen Expedition auf der Reise um die Welt unter O. v. KOTZEBUE. Später Konservator des Herbariums in Berlin.

Beide haben eine Neigung zum Wehmütigen und schildern vor allem Ereignisse aus den…Themenkreisen Natur und Heimat. Die Dichtungen von Salis-Seewis sollen sich Kritikern zufolge jedoch durch mehr Männlichkeit, Frische, Volkstümlichkeit sowie tiefere und wahrere Sehnsucht auszeichnen, seine Elegien immer einen festen und bestimmenden Grund aufweisen. Angetan von den Gedanken der Französischen Revolution, war er ein progressiver Vertreter von Menschenrechten und löste sich von der konservativen, oligarchischen Tradition seiner Familie, die über Jahrzehnte unangefochten die Drei Bünde beherrschte.Franz Schubert hat viele Gedichte von Salis-Seewis wie Abschied von der Harfe, Das Grab oder Zum Rundtanz vertont. Das 1782 geschriebene, ebenfalls von Schubert und ausserdem von Johann Friedrich Reichardt 1799 musikalisch untermalte Herbstlied gilt unter dem Titel Bunt sind schon die Wälder" heute als Volkslied und als bekanntestes Werk des Dichters.
