Die Autoren setzen auf kindgerechten Witz, der nicht belehrend wirkt, sondern die Freude am Fantastischen betont. Die Übersetzung von Peter Baumann überträgt Tonfall und Wortspiele souverän ins Deutsche und bewahrt die Leichtigkeit des Originals. Sprachlich ist der Text klar, rhythmisch und gut zum Vorlesen geeignet. Die humorvolle Zuspitzung bleibt verständlich, ohne an Tempo oder Charme zu verlieren. Gestalterisch entspricht der Band dem typischen Profil des Lappan Verlags in den 1980er Jahren: farbige, ausdrucksstarke Illustrationen tragen die Handlung maßgeblich mit und unterstützen die Komik der Geschichte.
