Captain Geoffrey Martin Bennett (1908-1983), who used the pseudonym Sea-Lion when writing novels, was, for many years, a serving officer in the Royal Navy, having joined as a cadet at the age of thirteen, as well as being one of the most highly regarded naval historians of his time. He wrote novels and factual works, mainly set during WWII, for both adults and children. He also wrote for the BBC's Children's Hour' about the adventures of two Midshipmen 'Tiger' Ransome and 'Snort' Kenton. Author.

Bennett was a British Royal Navy officer, author and historian, who wrote around twenty novels for adults and children, including three science-fiction novels, of which 'This Creeping Evil' is one. This particular novel tells the story of Commander Thomas Delaney who is faced with a dangerous, horrible menace known only as the 'Thing', with the survival of Britain resting in Delaney's hands. Bound in the publisher's original cloth, with the original, price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, very good indeed, with light bumping to the extremities and the odd mark. Angus & Robertson bookseller label to the front paste down. Light offsetting and a small ink annotation to the front endpaper. Lacking the rear free endpaper. Light spotting to the fore edge. Very nice association copy of this mid-career novel by "Sea Lion," a pseudonym Bennett chose during his naval career, as British military regulations forbade publishing under his own name. Geoffrey Bennett (1909-1983) was a prolific naval historian and writer of popular fiction, including a number of works for children. This suspense novel, set in Moscow during the Cold War; is intriguingly inscribed to WW2 Naval hero Adm. Arleigh Burke, who had risen to the position of U.S. Chief of Naval Operations in 1955, where he remained through the first two years of the Kennedy administration.
