Shocking and outraged Japanese reports of the so-named Tungchow [Tongzhou] Massacre, wherein Kuomintang Chinese forces had the temerity to retaliate following Japanese bombing of their barracks. In the ensuing fighting some 200 Japanese and Korean residents of the town, in the Japanese puppet state of East Hebei, were killed. The present monograph contains bloody first hand accounts of the incident as reported by various Japanese newspaper correspondents who had interviewed survivors. Following the war, these accounts were presented to the War Crimes Tribunal by the Japanese as the instigation for Japan's later brutal attacks on Chinese populations, but the Tribunal rejected this 'evidence'. Staple bound in printed wraps; light tanning of wraps, otherwise near fine. 22 pp., 5 b&w plates. Size: 22 x 15 cm.
