"An introduction to one of the most exciting moments in the history of civilizations. During the four centuries that the Han dynasty ruled China (206 B.C.-A.D. 220), it prepared the ground for the main political, economic, social and cultural structures that were to characterize the Chinese world for two millennia. The Han empire was China's imperial Rome. . Not only a lively narratie of life in Han China, but also an essential study of recent discoveries that will appeal to students and lovers of things Chinese." (dj). László Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) was a Hungarian painter and photographer as well as a professor in the Bauhaus school. He was highly influenced by constructivism and a strong advocate of the integration of technology and industry into the arts. In this book he proposes a framework that positions photography and film as equals to traditional painting, challenging the conventions of fine art by exploring the potential of new media. Created during his tenure at the Bauhaus, this project situates Moholy-Nagy's work within the progressive and experimental climate of the Weimar Republic, where industrialization and the rise of machine technology demanded a reevaluation of artistic practice. The book is bound in the original black cloth covered boards with white titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and rubbing along the top edge. The top corners and top of the spine are lightly bumped and nicked.
