A curriculum for an oral health CE course was developed for RNs that treat the geriatric population and presented in a web-based and face-to-face course. The same oral health education material was used for both CE formats. A literature review demonstrating effective curricular, instructional and evaluative strategies for continuing professional healthcare education as well as a review of several theories in the psychology of adult learning and its application to continuing professional healthcare education was conducted. Este proyecto abordó la necesidad identificada de crear, poner en práctica y evaluar una intervención educativa para medir la adquisición y la retención de conocimientos entre un curso presencial y otro en línea dirigido a enfermeros titulados (RN). Se utilizaron métodos cuantitativos para abordar el problema de investigación en el caso de las enfermeras tituladas que atienden a la población geriátrica. Se desarrolló un plan de estudios para un curso de formación continua en salud bucodental dirigido a estas enfermeras, que se impartió tanto en formato en línea como presencial. Se utilizó el mismo material educativo sobre salud bucodental en ambos formatos de formación continua. Zur Untersuchung der Fragestellung für RNs, die geriatrische Patienten betreuen, wurden quantitative Methoden eingesetzt. Es wurde ein Lehrplan für einen Fortbildungskurs zur Mundgesundheit für RNs entwickelt, die geriatrische Patienten betreuen, und dieser wurde sowohl in einem webbasierten als auch in einem Präsenzkurs angeboten. Für beide Fortbildungsformate wurde dasselbe Lehrmaterial zur Mundgesundheit verwendet.
