Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good Plus. 1st Edition. First Printing as confirmed by McBride. The book would be fine save for shelf wear along bottom of boards and text block, slight translucent spotting of front lower text block. Else book is free of internal marking, spine is tight, boards ri…gid and tips are pointed. While the jacket has its price on the back flap, it has general wear all over, loss and small chipping at most edges, especially along spine and at top and bottom of spine. Actually looks quite smart in its shiny new plastic cover. Shipping box is suitable for wrapping with a non-price listed purchase order inside along with biodegradable packing.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - 'Twenty Years With James G. Blaine' offers an intimate and detailed perspective on one of the most influential figures in late nineteenth-century American politics. Written by Thomas H. Sherman, who served as Blaine's private secretary for two decades, this memoir provides a unique firstha…nd look at the life and career of the man known as the 'Plumed Knight.'The narrative spans the height of Blaine's political influence, covering his tenure as Speaker of the House, his service in the United States Senate, and his two terms as Secretary of State. Sherman's reminiscences go beyond public records, offering personal anecdotes and private observations that humanize a statesman often defined by his presidential ambitions and political rivalries. From the inner workings of the Republican Party to the complexities of late-1800s diplomacy, the book serves as an invaluable primary source for understanding the Gilded Age. Readers will find a compelling portrait of a man who profoundly shaped American foreign policy and political discourse, captured by the person who stood closest to him throughout his most significant years in public life. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This reader, published after World War I, begins with a poem, "The American Boy." It is a dialogue between a father and son about patriotism. According to the author of this reader, the influence of the story "The Poor Little Match Girl" "founded many an orphan home and organized hundreds of societies for relief of the worthy poor," which indicates an emphasis on philanthropy and social work during the era of the Social Gospel.80% of selections taught traditional values."-- Sharon Vincz Andrews ; signature of a youthful Gerald Grout, later a Kansas Ophthalmologist ; GOOD.
