Manoscritto / Collezionismo cartaceo Prima edizione
Scarce pamphlet from journalist Murray Kempton with David Shimkin outlining the trial of the Panther 21, a group of Black Panther Party members falsely accused of plotting multiple attacks against the New York City Police Department. Prepared from court briefings, this pamphlet came forth while the eight-month trial (then the longest and most expensive in New York history) was underway in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the Panther's legal defense. The trial would end up with acquittals for all 21 defendants, and Kempton would go on to write a full book on the ordeal entitled The Briar Patch: The Trial of the Panther 21. Only two located in OCLC (as of September 2024), with no holdings found in the United States. Slight toning; very gentle creasing to rear wrap; about Near Fine. Saddle-stapled in photo-illustrated card wraps (7.5 in x 5.5 in). [24]pp.
