Chickpea (Cicer arietinum) is an important cool-season food legume having extensive geographical distribution. It has higher acceptability and wider use, besides being rich in protein, its ability to use atmospheric nitrogen through biological nitrogen fixation is economically sounder and environmentally acceptable.
