Conclusion. Bibliography. Horticultural crops have played a major role in ensuring livelihood security of farming community. The last decade has witnessed sea change in the production scenario of horticultural crops. Effective management of natural resources play important role in improving the productivity of horticultural crops in a sustainable manner. Practices like genetic resource management appropriate land use, maintaining soil fertility, efficient management of water resources, adoption of farming system approach for harnessing synergy between different components are some of the approaches on natural resource management for improving the productivity. A number of research work have been undertaken around the world on this aspect. It is time that the learning from the research in these areas to be translated into farmers field directly or after suitable refinement based on local scenario. In this book the authors have attempted to compile the available knowledge in these area including the findings of research work undertaken around the world. This book will be of immense importance for researchers in appraising themselves about the current status of research on different aspects of natural resource management in horticultural crops. It will also be useful for practitioners/farmers for adopting appropriate practices on natural resource management for improving income from their horticulture production system in a sustainable manner.

Losses and Epidemiology. 6. Management. 7. Conclusion and Future Research. 8. References. Index. Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is one of the most widespread diseases of solanaceous vegetables, viz., tomato, eggplant, chili, and potato in India and the world. The disease is serious and soil-borne in nature and damage of crop is widespread and loss is significant. Several researches on understanding the nature of pathogens and ways and means of mitigation of the loss have been done in India and abroad but these are not available at one place and pose problems to seekers of information. In this book the information scattered in various forms of literature (1896-2014) is collected and systematically compiled, crop-wise, in seven chapters. The importance of the above solanaceous vegetables and their nutritive value, pathogen and bacterial wilt have been discussed in the first chapter. The symptomatology of diseases with photographs, their etiology, distribution of race biovars and their diagnosis, morphological, biochemical physiological characteristics of pathogen, pathogenecity, serodiagnosis, molecular diagnosis and protocol for detection of R. solancearumin soil and plant have been discussed in the second chapter. The maintenance and preservation of culture have been included in the third chapter. Genomics and mechanism of pathogenesis have been discussed in the fourth chapter. Research work done on losses and epidemiology have been compiled in the fifth chapter in which detailed information on survival and host range has also been included. In the sixth chapter management of diseases has been discussed under sub-sections, viz, integrated disease management, cultural management, crop rotation, soil amendment, biological control, host resistant, induced systemic resistance and chemical control methods. Conclusion and future research have been discussed in chapter seven. This compilation will be useful for persons engaged in research, teaching and extension. The book will be useful for the postgraduate and Ph.D students, researchers, extension workers as well as educated farmers to help enhance knowledge about bacterial wilt of solanaceous crops and their scientific way of management to reduce crop losses. Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Fibro osseous lesions (FOLs) are a generic designation of poorly defined group of lesions which are recognized to affect the jaws and the craniofacial bones which are known for their confusing area in diagnostic pathology. The disease comprises of varied processes in which the normal architecture of bone is replaced by fibrous tissue containing varying amount of foci of mineralization. Regardless of the advancement in molecular analyzing techniques, the classification, diagnosis, and management of FOLs remain confusing due to multiple histological and radiographic similarities. Even though the histopathology for all FOLs is similar, their behavior ranges widely from dysplasia, hamartoma to benign neoplasia with occasional recurrence and hence radiology plays a central role in their diagnosis. This book throws a light on the various classification systems given for FOLs by various authors at different times due to expansion in molecular studies and also highlights individual lesion on basis of histopathologic, radiographic and other imaging techniques for the diagnosis and surgical treatment.
