Trade Paperback. Condizione: Very Good. Vashi, Victor and Flleishell, Bill - Illustrations (illustratore). First Edition. 196 Pages with a Comprehensive Index. Funny stories from President Ford, Vice-President Rockefeller, and many other prominent Republicans. Cover has two photos: Ford piggy-backing a young lady, and Ford in monkey-like pose while playing golf. This book of Republican Humor is intended to introduce a bit of levity in the political arena. Here's the book that Time magazine hailed as chock-full of the favorite thigh-thumpers of the G.O.P. politicians. And chock-full it is, with over 100 governors, senators, congressmen and cabinet members providing the best of humorous stories, anecdotes and cartoons. The subjects covered run the gamut from Adam and Eve, golf, sex, prohibition and surfing to unemployment, fund raising and even memory tax. President Gerald R. Ford expressed his appreciation of humor when in the Foreword of the book, he wrote: In politics, a sense of proportion and a sense of humor should be written into the job description of every legislator and administrator. Officials who can laugh together can work together. The aisle separating Republicans and Democrats need never be so wide that it can't be bridged by good humor. I believe in laughter. I look on it as one of the precious gifts that God has given to mankind. I admire, as Walter Scott did, the wit that loves to play, not wound.

A Final Draft and a Revised Draft script for the 1979 film, seen here as "Stepping Out." Based on the short story "Here on a Visit" by Edward Cannon. Both drafts belonging to producer Tony Bill with his signature in black manuscript ink at the top right corner: "Tony Bill producer." Included is a typed letter of provenance signed by Bill. A delightful comedy that follows three retired men living on social security who decide to pull off a bank heist to finance their final days, but more importantly to bring some excitement to their otherwise humdrum lives. The first major feature film from director and screenwriter Martin Brest, who would go on to make the blockbuster success "Beverly Hills Cop," and who was only 28 at the time this film was shot. Set in New York City, shot on location there and in Las Vegas. Revised Draft: Red titled wrappers. Title page present, dated October 16, 1978, noted as REVISED, with credits for screenwriter Brest and short story writer Cannon. 128 leaves, mechanical duplication. Pages Fine, wrapper about Fine bound with three silver screw brads. Final Draft: Red titled wrappers, noted as FINAL on the front wrapper, dated October 16, 1978. Title page present, dated April 12, 1979, noted as FINAL, with credits for screenwriter Brest and short story writer Cannon. 134 leaves, photocopy, with blue and pink revision pages throughout, dated 1/22/79 and 4/12/79. Illustrated throughout with drawings, photographs, programs, comic book covers and drawings, movie posters and promotional materials, memorabilia, behind the scenes photos, and more. Comic-Con began in 1970 in San Diego and continues as a very special place for artists, fans, writers, celebrities, and other professionals to gather in celebration of all things wonderful in the world of comics, science fiction and fantasy, film, videos, anime, and fun. From Ray BradburyÕs foreword: ÒWhen I was in my late forties, I was asked to come down to San Diego to attend the first Comic-Con at the El Cortez Hotel. I was part of a group of about three hundred people, if you can believe that. The fascinating thing about this was that these people all loved illustration. We were all very happy being there and enjoying one anotherÕs company.Ó Accompanying Bradbury (who is featured extensively throughout the book) at that first gathering were such luminaries as A.E. van Vogt, Jack Kirby, and Forrest J Ackerman.
