Au total, 521 échantillons ont été prélevés sur des animaux sauvages de différents États de l'Inde. Les échantillons comprenaient 302 ruminants,…166 non-ruminants et 53 oiseaux. Parmi les ruminants, 71,2 % appartenaient à la famille des cervidés et parmi les non-ruminants, 44,58 % à la famille des félidés et 21,68 % à celle des canidés. Parmi les oiseaux captifs, 24,52 % appartenaient à la famille des faisans et 20,75 % à celle des oiseaux sauvages. Le CBA en condition microaérophile à une température de 420°C a donné le Campylobacter thermophile le plus élevé (11,90 %), suivi du mCCDA (10,56 %), du BA (8,25 %), du CA (5,76 %) et du HCCA (4,22 %). La PCR multiplex a confirmé 11,71 % de Campylobacter spp, dont 58,06 % de C. jejuni et 40,32 % de C. Coli. Les ruminants (59,68 %) ont présenté l'incidence la plus élevée, suivis par les non-ruminants (29,03 %) et les oiseaux (9,68 %). Le bouillon tryptone-soja avec 20% de glycérol et une température de -800C pourrait être un meilleur milieu de conservation pour les isolats de Campylobacter jusqu'à 180 jours. L'étude actuelle a montré que le test TaqMan (qPCR) pouvait détecter même une seule copie du pathogène avec une spécificité pour le genre Campylobacter.
