Hardcover. Condizione: gut. 1983. Dieses Buch wurde bereits im Jahr 1966 geschrieben, aber ich denke es ist heute genau so ansprechend und ergreifend wie damals. Bereits 1977 wurde das Buch von Ruth Linhart übersetzt. Sie hat die Übersetzung des Romanes aber für die Neuauflage überarbeitet. Für mich hat sich das Buch sehr gut lesen lassen. Am Anfang des Buches kommt Martin Scorsese zu Wort. Er teilt seine Erfahrungen mit diesem Buch mit uns. Seit über 20 Jahren begleitet ihn dieses Werk immer wieder und er ist dabei den Roman zu verfilmen. Ich denke man darf gespannt sein. Der Roman an sich beschäftigt sich mit der Arbeit zweier Priester in Japan, mit ihren Schwierigkeiten die dortigen Christen zu unterstützen. 1638 machen sie sich ursprünglich zu dritt auf den Weg nach Japan. In Portugal kamen Nachrichten an, das ihr Lehrer Ferreira dem Glauben abgeschworen hat. Dies kann und will Pater Sebastião Rodrigues nicht für Möglich halten. Japan will mit aller Macht verhindern, das sich das Christentum weiter ausbreitet. Daher wird von Seiten des Staates alles daran gelegt, das die Christen verfolgt werden. Wir verfolgen Pater Sebastião Rodrigues auf seiner Reise und erleben welche Gefahren er in Japan bestehen muss. Auch wenn die wenigen Christen in Japan hocherfreut über den Priester sind, so ist die Situation dennoch mehr als gefährlich. Die Beamten durchsuchen immer wieder die Dörfer und foltern die Menschen um etwaige Christen zu entdecken. Dieses Buch ist so viel mehr als ein einfacher Roman. In meinen Augen führt uns das Buch die christliche Lehre sehr gut vor Augen. Ich finde das Buch regt zum Nachdenken an. Der japanische Autor, selber dem katholischen Glauben zugehörig, hat hier ein Meisterwerk geschaffen. Ein Buch, welches man nicht mal eben so hinwegliest.hier braucht es schon eine gewisse Konzentration. Besonders in einer Zeit wie heute, wo das Christentum weltweit immer noch die am meisten verfolgte Religion ist, und die Situation in vielen Ländern eher schlimmer als besser wird, sind Geschichten wie diese wichtig. Im Westen sind wir sehr verwöhnt, und obwohl auch hier die Rechte von Religionen (besonders des Christentums) mehr und mehr eingeschränkt wird, haben wir oft das Gefühl, das Christentum sei eine Täterreligion und keine Opferreligion. Das Gegenteil ist jedoch der Fall! Auch im 21. Jahrhundert leben etwa 200 Millionen Christen in Ländern, wo sie wegen ihres Glaubens diskriminiert, benachteiligt oder sogar offen verfolgt und ermordet werden. Daran hat sich in den letzten Jahrhunderten trotz christlicher Großmächte im Westen nicht viel geändert. Die Ereignisse um die portugiesischen Missionare haben die japanische Geschichte in eine Richtung gelenkt, welche die heutige Situation in Japan maßgeblich mitbestimmt hat: denn auch heute noch ist Japan in Ostasien das Land, in welchem das Christentum am wenigsten vertreten ist. Und die Wurzeln davon liegen in der Verfolgung von damals. Ein wichtiges Buch, das zum Nachdenken anregen soll, darüber, was Religionsfreiheit ist und sein sollte und warum dieses Menschenrecht immer noch nicht überall eingehalten wird und auch bei uns im Westen eher im Vergehen als im Kommen ist, das aber auch dazu anregt, sich die frage zu stellen, worum es beim Glauben geht. Ob es darum geht, das jeder unabhängig vom Kulturkreis dasselbe glaubt, oder ob letztlich jeder letztlich seinen eigenen Glauben finden muss.
