Signed by the translator on the title page. Obscure private publication on the Romanian folk art tradition of painted wooden grave markers. The book is distinguished by exemplary layout and design for Ion Miclea-Mihale s stellar photos 116 in all - of the craftsmen and their workshops, the cemeteries, and the grave markers themselves, with superb detailed close-ups, shown in both color and black and white. Exceptional book design a favorite publication, and quite rare. OCLC lists no copies in U.S. holdings. Interior generally bright and clean save for some spotting to endpapers. Dust jacket is quite worn, which seems to be endemic to this title (my own copy is the same), with general chipping and small tears to all edges.
