Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. 4to. Wrappers. [52pp.] + errata slip bound in at the rear (on confusing Charles de Gaulle with Napoleon and Hitler by turns). 'The concept of unity has to-day come to imply an antithesis to that of freedom. It is this antithesis in politics, morality, art and society that denies life, that renders fruitless and invalid so much activity and effort on all these planes, that permits an unscrupulous distortion of these words out of all meaning and recognition; and it is this antithesis that some of us, in the following pages, have determined to resolve.' The material for this illustrated one-shot was assembled during World War Two and is in English, with French, German and Spanish contributions given parallel translations. Including Alfred Jarry, Lucian Freud (a mounted illustration), Benjamin Peret, Edith Rimmington, Roland Penrose, Valentine Penrose, E. L. T. Mesens, Emmy Bridgwater, George Melly, John Banting, Feyyaz Fergar, J. B. Brunius, Sadi Cherkeshi, Charles Robert Maturin, D. A. F. de Sade, and more. The cover is by Conroy Maddox. Very Good, bumped to the corners and slightly spotted/marked outwardly, the spine rubbed with a couple of ineffective horizontal splits.
