Hardback. Condizione: New. The social history of the genocide, its representation in postwar culture, and new theoretical approaches stand at the forefront of current research in a range of disciplines. Analyses at the most intimate scale-of the individual or of a particular locale- are juxtaposed with those that turn to broader studies of the war or postwar order. Complementing these different scales are theoretical investigations that address individual agency, moral judgment, and the construction of meaning and memory in the study of the victims of the Holocaust and in our understanding of society as a whole. Together they mark the contemporary scholarly landscape of Holocaust studies, which includes history as well as film and literary studies, philosophy, and religious studies (among other disciplines). Each of the volume's three sections contributes to understanding the Holocaust and postwar ramifications of the genocide by focusing on: 1) the history of specific communities of both victims and perpetrators; 2) postwar cultural representations; and 3) new theoretical understandings of each. The essays in this volume thus represent new interests in the field that contribute to building integrated histories of the Holocaust.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -In the 20th and 21st centuries many governments of developing countries have been lured by tourism as a quick mechanism for development. This has often involved a trade-off between the pursuit of economic wealth and support for the social, cultural and natural environments. The negative impacts of mass tourism in developing countries are countless and well documented. This book outlines how these impacts can be mitigated by the development of community-based tourism. Taking a market segmentation approach, it conceptualises a sustainable ecotrekking industry through the alignment of community and tourists needs. Ecotrekking, as a form of community-based tourism, can play a vital role in development if the right market segment is targeted to meet the needs of the community. Generally this ensures a slower rate of development, giving the community time to adjust to the changes that occur at both a socio-cultural and infrastructural level. The book presents a case study of the Kokoda Track, Papua New Guinea to explore these concepts and the results provide a framework for communities and destination managers in developing countries in developing sustainable tourism. 112 pp. Englisch.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. 112 pp. Spanisch.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. 108 pp. Italienisch.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Im 20. und 21.
