Original half calf leather with slightly raised bands and black label. Leather is much chipped to the bottom of the spine and it is lacking a 3/4 inch section. The front board is off and the back board has been inexpertly reinforced. Marbled boards and endpages. frontispiece has been glued to title page affecting readablity of title page and the text description of the frontispiece plate. Lacking most of the two fold out horse genealogies. Generaly light foxing throughout. One plate torn in half but complete. Lacking plate for the fifth month. Otherwise complete. READING COPY only. He is best known for his works on sport, published under the pseudonym of Frank Forester.
