Il 6 aprile 1829 il giovanissimo e erudito Matteo Thun " 17 anni appena " annunciava con orgoglio all'amico veronese Giovanni Battista Giuliari di possedere la raccolta di stampe dei Ritratti d'illustri trentini, realizzate da celebri incisori romani, su disegno di Giuseppe Craffonara. La serie à oggi esposta a Castel Thun nella Camera del conte Francesco. Intorno a questo episodio di mecenatismo e consapevolezza politica e culturale, promosso dal podestà di Trento Benedetto Giovanelli, si snoda il percorso della mostra, che svela collezioni del museo raramente esposte al pubblico.
