Hardback octavo, no jacket as issued, very good condition, black boards, gilt title & author front cover, gilt title spine, typewritten text, minor foxing top edge, pages lightly toned, minor edgewear, owner's embossed stamp title page. 280 pp. This hardcover book, compiled and edited by Dr. C. J. Smee, has been written to comme…morate and celebrate the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the Second Fleet in Sydney Cove in June 1790. It follows on from the book 'First Fleet Families of Australia'. The Second Fleet consisted of four ships: Lady Juliana, Neptune, Scarborough and Surprise. The latter three ships included 111 survivors from the ill fated HMS Guardian, which sunk off the African coast. This book lists all known families originating from the participants of that fleet. There are 1090 children and over 4000 grandchildren in the 327 families identified (convicts and NSW Corps). The fleet carried 1256 convicts, but 276 died under the terrible condition on board. (About 280 unnumbered pages. Embossed stamp of Leon and Gretel Perlstone.).

Hardback small octavo, no jacket as issued, very good condition, black boards, gilt title & author front cover, gilt title spine, typewritten text, edges & title page lightly foxed, pages lightly toned, minor edgewear, owner's embossed stamp title page. 300 pp. This hardcover book, compiled and edited by Dr. C. J. Smee, is the f…ourth and final book in his series of Fleet Families. It has been written to commemorate and celebrate the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the Fourth Fleet in Sydney Cove in 1792. Technically, there was no 'Fourth Fleet', but the arrival of three convict transport ships independently in 1792: 'Pitt', 'Royal Admiral' and 'Kittyâ. But 1792 was the last year that founder Arthur Phillip was Governor, the last year there were Marine Guards, and the last year that convicts alone were transported. In 1793, the NSW Corps became fully the guards, and free settlers also arrived together with the convicts. There are 163 families listed in this book, as well as 607 children and 1200 grandchildren. At the rear are indents for the three ships and other useful lists. (Note: title states 205 families, but preface states 163 families. About 300 unnumbered pages. Embossed stamp of Leon and Gretel Perlstone.).
