Soft Covers. Condizione: NF. No Jacket. 1st. This impressive publication is a companion volume to the Te Papa Press 2002 printing of the similarly named first "Taiawhio" which carried "conversations" with 17 contemporary Maori artists. In this second set of "conversations" another 18 practitioners "both established and cutting-edge" give their views on traditional and non-traditional media, The 18 artists represent the disciplines of painting, dancing, sculptors, clay workers, weavers, two also being ta Moko (tattoo) artists with another two working in multi media. Taiawhio II dramatically showcases Maori contemporary art in its effective combination of words and illustrations. The "conversations" are between the individual artists and a Te Papa curator, allowing them to reveal their interests and inspirations, work methods and practices and their relationship with Maori culture and tradition."Taiawhio II" is lavishly illustrated throughout with colour photograps of the various artists' work. As with everything about this publication, the standard of photography is outstanding. Te Papa Press, and the many who contributed to its content, production and presentation, are to be congratulated on a book of undoubted excellence. First edition from Te Papa Press 2007, 300 pages including artist biographies, credits and notes, illustrated throughout with high quality colour photographs. Colour pictorial card covers with French flaps are NF, text block also NF, no inscriptions. This large and heavy book (about 1.4kg unpacked) would require additional postage, particularly for international delivery. Photos (illustratore).…
