Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. A survey of the prolific work of a Turkish artist who developed a contemporary visual language using a flat-weave "kilim" techniqueThrough Woven Times is a kaleidoscopic glimpse into the subjects, themes, and formal concerns that Belkis Balpinar (1941) examined over her prolific work. With large-scale woven pieces, hanging sculptures, and wall pieces spanning five decades, Balpinar's textile experiments are a resolute but continuously evolving process medley of material and shape in service of unexpected narrative. In this monograph, the semi-abstract visual language predominates. She amalgamated her knowledge of traditional flat weaves with imaginative interpretations of centuries-old techniques. Her work can be seen as a humanistic projection field that emphasizes what we all have in common, such as our passions and dreams, regardless of where in the world we live. Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Murat Germen is an artist using photography as an expression and a research tool regarding urban metamorphosis. His challenging visual experimentations question specific dynamics of our city environments. Both the "Muta-morphosis" and "Facsimile" series focus on the perpetual transformation of cityscapes. While "Muta-morphosis" maximizes the urban content by shrinking very long panoramic photos into a frame in a traditional ratio, "Facsimile," on the other hand, extends certain parts of cities to draw attention to particular dynamics among various urban components. In this context, it is possible to consider the "Muta-morphosis" series as a "broad" body of work, which focuses on the egalitarian aspect of all urban areas that form a city; while the "Facsimile" series is a relatively "narrower" body of work where certain urban areas disappear in order to make the hierarchy of cities more legible visually. Buch. Condizione: Neu.

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Stockholm-based artist PG Thelander (1936) is a unique figure in the contemporary art world. In the 1970s, his paintings, drawings and etchings seemed to spring directly from a sharp critical observation, which continuously gained new surprising aspects from nature and reality. In the following decade, against the rigid formalism and technical neatness of the Stockholm art scene he launched a new exhilarating freedom, a freedom allowing a reckless play with proportions of reality, filled with a mysterious figurative glow and fantastic distortions. For over fifty years, the disaster of the conditio humana has lured behind his enigmatic figures, signs and scripts. His formal vocabulary is fluid, elusive and in a perennial state of transition, while the line between sarcastic realism and poetic symbolism remains blurred.Over the last half century, artist Paer Gunnar Thelander has produced a puzzling body of paintings, prints, sculptures, medals and paper works. He has created a new, enigmatic language of contemporary painting that is profoundly dramatic and closely tied to the inscrutable complexities of human existence. A pivotal theme in PG Thelander's work is the incompatibility between what we see and the way we linguistically designate it. At an early point in his career, he developed a precise technique for creating concrete metaphoric images inspiring the titles of his works. The combination of image and title has never presented a unified meaning. Thelander's language keeps the lines of communication to emotional interpretations open through the fact that, since the 1960s, each decade of his works has laboriously reconstructed the astonished ignorance with which we first see something - that moment before we link up with what we actually see, so that it becomes dissolved in the abstracting purpose and constraints of our mastery of the everyday.
