First part preceded by general title page and copperplate frontispiece depicting the arms of the bishops of the Church of England. Quarto (7-3/4" x 6-1/4"). Recent period-style paneled calf, gilt title to spine. A few minor scratches, faint tiny stain to rear board, bookplate of William Foyle to front pastedown. Moderate toning to interior, some soiling and edgewear to preliminaries and final leaves, numbering of paragraphs to margins beginning with p. 39, small later library stamp (St. Francis College, London) to general title page. $250. * Only edition, one of two issues, both in 1661. This volume consists of the first six sections of a book made up of a general introduction and reprints of pamphlets, each printed with its original imprint and publication date. These pamphlets are: -Injunctions given by the most excellent Prince, Edward the Sixt (London: Imprinted.by Richard Grafton, 1547). -The Order of the Communion (London: Imprinted.by Richard Grafton, 1547). -Articles to be Enquired of in the Visitation of the Dioces of London, By the Reverend Father in God, Nicolas Bishop of London (London: Imprinted.by Reynold Wolfe, 1550). -Articles Agreed Upon by the Bishops and other Learned and Godly Men, in the Last Convocation at London, In the Year of Our Lord 1552, to Root Out the Discord of Opinions, And Establish the Agreement of True Religion.
