L. Sprague de Camp (1907-2000) was a recipient of the World Fantasy Award (1984), Nebula Grand Master Award (1979), and British Fantasy Award (1973), with a writing career spanning over fifty years and more than one hundred books. The Undesired Princess finds the overly practical Rollin Hobart transported to a far-from-sensible world, while in The Enchanted Bunny, ghostwriter Joe Johnson falls into the middle of a fairy tale. Two reluctant heroes use modern knowledge to fight fairy-tale monsters ? and even though things don't work out exactly as they should, both must try to save a strange and exciting new world. A funny, fast-moving adventure. De Camp's title novella, first published in the legendary Unknown Worlds in 1942, is widely regarded as the best of his early solo fantasies ? an irreverent, witty portal fantasy with a distinctly rationalist sensibility that anticipates many of the themes he would develop with Fletcher Pratt in the Harold Shea series. Paired here for the first time with David Drake's affectionate homage in the same vein. A solid reading copy of a charming and historically significant fantasy pairing.
