Dabei liegen gerade iiber diese Prozesse zahlreiche Veroffentlich1Ulgen aus den letzten 30 Jahren vor. Das Einfiigen der photochemischen Prozesse in das Gebaude der Storstellenreaktionen ist das Ziel dieses Buches. Der Nachweis der photochemischen Reaktionsprodukte wurde experi mentell in den meisten Fallen durch die Mess1Ulg der Absorption vor genommen. Zum besseren Verstandnis miissen deshalb auch die wich tigsten Gesetze der Theorie der Absorptionsspektren im gestorten 1Uld ungestorten Gitter behandelt werden. Bei der Abfass1Ulg des Buches wurden die Arbeiten, die an einfachsten Ionengittern ausgefiihrt worden sind, ausfiihrlich behandelt. Diese Be schrank1Ulg wurde absichtlich vorgenommen. Schon bei diesen ein fachsten Substanzen ist es nicht immer moglich, die komplexe Natur der photochemischen Reaktionsprodukte einer eindeutigen theoretischen Behandlung zu unterziehen. Sachlich erschien es zweckmiiBig, die Einteilung der einzeInen Kapitel so vorz1Ulehmen, daB z1Uliichst die wichtigsten Gf1Uldgedanken der StOrstellentheorie, der Elektronen-1Uld Ionenprozesse abgeleitet wurden. Daneben war es notwendig, auch die Prozesse, bei denen die Versetzungen eine Rolle spielen, zu beriicksichtigen. Um diejenigen Leser, die beim Studium der photochemischen Pro zesse wenig Interesse an mathematischer Behandl1Ulg der Absorptions prozesse besitzen, nicht zu belasten, habe ich die Theorie der Storstellen absorption erst im letzten Kapitel behandelt.
