This time and place fostered an intense meeting of musical talent, which led to mutual and seminal exchanges of ideas in the field of music. In June 2014, on the 600th anniversary of the council's convention in Constance, an international and interdisciplinary symposium took place as the Symposium of European Musical Culture in the Context of the Council of Constance ("Symposion Europaische Musikkultur im Kontext des Konstanzer Konzils"), whose goal was to examine the musical implications and context of that famous church council. Talks given during the proceedings of that symposium are documented in this publication. German description: Wahrend des Konstanzer Konzils (1414-1418) begegneten sich uber einen Zeitraum von fast vier Jahren in der Stadt am Bodensee die hochsten kirchlichen und geistlichen Wurdentrager aus dem gesamten europaischen Raum sowie deren Kapellen mit den avanciertesten geistlichen und weltlichen Kompositionen. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass dieser Ort intensiver Begegnung zu einem gegenseitigen Austausch und wechselseitiger Befruchtung auch auf dem Gebiet der Musik fuhrte.
