Gezeigt werden wichtige Einzelblätter aus den Themenbereichen Krieg, Großstadtleben, Porträt und Selbstbildnis sowie alle Mappenwerke, beginnend mit dem »Neuen Testament« 1911 über die »Gesichter« 1919, »Die Hölle« 1919, »Der Jahrmarkt« 1921, »Berliner Reise« 1922 bis zur letzten großen grafischen Arbeit, »Day and Dream« von 1946, die auf Anregung des New Yorker Galeristen Curt Valentin entstand. Unter den Buchillustrationen zu Texten von F.M. Dostojewski, Clemens Brentano und anderen bilden die 27 Lithografien zur »Apokalypse« aus den Kriegsjahren 1941/42 den Höhepunkt seines Schaffens als Illustrator. Mit dem ersten Exemplar von 24 Abzügen sind hier Blätter aus dem Spätwerk zu sehen, die zu den herausragenden Leistungen der deutschen Buchkunst gehören.
