The art historian Hakon Lund tells in volume I about the beginnings of gardening in Denmark, about the very earliest gardens for castles and manors, about the first Danish garden architects of significance, Johan Cornelius Krieger, Nicolas-Henri Jardin and Johannes Wiedewelt and about the transition to the romantic garden around 1780. The art historian Lulu Salto Stephensen's volume II deals with the period up to World War II, a time when new tasks arise in social housing construction, in allotment gardens , summer house areas, and residential gardens as well as in cemeteries and in public facilities. In volume III, the garden architect Annemarie Lund deals with the period from 1945 to today, when the garden architects became landscape architects who contributed to the design of both green strategies and area plans such as squares, squares and residential gardens.
