The Text Block is cle…an, creamy white, tight, straight and square with no markings of any kind. The Binding is full blue cloth, color uniform throughout, with bright gilt title, etc., to spine, unmarked white endpapers and all corners square and sharp. The Dust Jacket is intact (with the original price ($5.00) intact on the front flap) with two tears at top folds discreetly closed from behind with archival (pH neutral) materials, a 3/8" x 1/2" chip at the bottom of the rear panel, minor chips at folds, and some sunning to the spine area. This is the author's fourth (4th) and final novel in the Don Cycle, and the second part of Virgin Soil Upturned, following part one published as Seeds of Tomorrow in 1932. The novel continues the story of the Don Cossacks with flashbacks to pre-Soviet Russia contrasting with Stalinist efforts of collectivization. Translated from the Russian by H. C. Stevens.
