Compilation of 20 song-dances with piano accompaniments by Mary Lib McDonald, a special section on squares by Bert Lyle. First published in 1940 in mimeographed form for a course at Boston Univ. School of Theology; first issued in book form in 1947; this copy is the Revised Edition of 1952 with particular attention to the beginner leader in folk games and squares in mind. The underlying goal is the recapture of the spirit of play and the folk songs, games & dance prize the joy of simplicity . for, "The setting is social. The spirit is democratic" and, it is hard "to maintain a cool reserve" in fun and dance.
