A collection of photographs of circus posters printed by the Strobridge Lithographic Co. for the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus during the early 1920s. All fifty photographs are identified on the back with titles neatly written in ink, together with a… small number and date ink stamp. Included are several unique prints with images of variant posters of the same design issued in different years: about two or three also have a small printer's pencil note, and one image is overlain with a light penciled grid. Light toning on the versos, a few small nicks, near fine overall. The collection contains poster images of several popular performers and acts, as noted in manuscript on the versos, including: "Berta Beeson" (High Wire Artist); "Girl, Clown & Bear"; "Chariot Race"; "Performing Polar Bears"; "Rhino & Hippo" (World's Biggest Menagerie); "Lady Riders"; "Clown & Tents"; "Nelson Family" (Acrobats); among many others. A rare surviving printer's archive of the Greatest Show on Earth in the 1920s.
