En agosto de 1993, Cornelia Suhan fue a Bosnia por primera vez para ayudar a establecer un centro de terapia en Tuzla para mujeres que habían sido violadas. Regresaría todos los años ?faltándose sólo el año del nacimiento de su hija? y en 2018 comenzó a tomar fotografías.?Seguí pasando por delante de los edificios donde se habían cometido los crímenes durante mis estancias en Bosnia. Están esparcidos por todo el territorio nacional, en algún lugar completamente inofensivo: en una carretera rural, en la calle de un pueblo, en el terreno de una fábrica, en el terreno de una cooperativa agrícola, en una zona residencial de la ciudad o en el recinto escolar. Noté cómo algunas casas aún permanecían abandonadas después de la guerra; a mí me parecían los ?intocables?, mientras que a otros les habían borrado todo rastro?.El libro incluye casi 90 imágenes que muestran algunos de los edificios donde se cometieron los crímenes: desde escuelas y pabellones deportivos hasta hospitales y cuarteles de policía, garajes, edificios de apartamentos, hoteles y spas, molinos, fábricas, comedores, estaciones de autobuses, cuarteles generales del ejército, prisiones, museos y mezquitas. El edificio es visible, pero no lo que sucedió dentro. La documentación de Suhan sobre los edificios permite una presentación objetiva y transmite información y evidencia para comenzar a percibir e intentar comprender la enormidad y escala de los crímenes contra las mujeres durante este período.?Los edificios y lugares representados en las fotografías son una ocasión para un proceso de recuerdo y conmemoración.
