Hydrogele (HGs) sind Netzwerke aus dreidimensionalen Polymeren, die durch große Mengen eines Lösungsmittels aufgequollen sind. Die HGs haben eine flexible, gummiartige und weiche Textur, die dem menschlichen Gewebe ähnelt und sich hervorragend für die Wundbehandlung eignet. Hydrogele sind besonders vorteilhaft, weil sie Wasserverluste und Sekundärinfektionen verhindern, Wundflüssigkeiten absorbieren und für einen ausreichenden Gasaustausch sorgen können. Aufgrund der amorphen Struktur von Gellan-Gummi-Chitosan (GGCH) können Hydrogele (HGs) bis zu 99 % ihres Eigengewichts an Wasser aufnehmen.
