Suydam (including front cover and a frontispiece) plus a concluding map of the eastern United States showing Southern Railway lines. Interior pages are clean and binding is firm. A very good- copy. Presumably issued as a promotional lagniappe advertising tourism to Washington, D.C. via the Southern Railway System. A predecessor to the Moore-Suydam book WASHINGTON, PAST AND PRESENT which was published by The Century Company in 1929, this booklet has more illustrations than what was included in the book {see Hallinan A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF WASHINGTONIANA 1994}. Charles Moore served as Chairman of the National Commission of Fine Arts.

B&W Illustrations; This book is in Very Good condition and has a Good dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some edge wear, bumping and rubbing, along with a couple of small tears. The text pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket has edge wear, rubbing, smallish edge tears and several chips missing, along with noticeable toning to the spine and edges. The spine of the dust jacket has patches of discoloration and glue residue.

The book appears unread -- tight and square with only minor wear. There is minor wear and spots on the back cover but the front cover is still bright with gilt lettering and sharp inset drawing (see photos), A couple of bumps on the heal and toe of spine-- but much less than is common on books of this era. The front and rear endpapers are in wonderful shape and the tissue paper guard protecting the color illustrations opposite the title page is in perfect condition. A beautiful copy! #58.

Softcover. Condizione: Near Very Good. Second printing, trade paperback, the front hinge is popped but remains solid. The book also has a subtle lean to the binding, lightly creased bumps to the spine ends and cover corners, rubbing with stray marks to the covers which have wear to their edges, slight sun toning to the spine with a thin reading crease along the center, another thin reading crease along the front hinge, a few stains to the head of the text block, and a crease to the title page. Overall, a Near Very Good copy.

Contents clean with nice illus, slight ageing to page borders.
