Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Joseph Avrach. (illustratore). 1st Edition. 24 page war-time produced children's tale with the most delightful illustrations in woodblock muted colours and plain by Joseph Avrach in the style of Edward Bawden or Barnett Freedman. A man who also wrote for Peter Lunn after the war up until the early 1950's. This his earliest contribution and a very rare title. A tale of two sisters one of whom is a witch and can do magical things with toys. It is in remarkable condition considering its fragility of production. The covers are a silk finish paper illustrated, with a cloth spine. The top outer corners are slightly bumped and a little light bump at base with edges slightly rubbed from shelf removal, these faults hardly noticed, there is a small "award" label inside over an illustrated vignette on the endpaper "Ann Hewitt as an art prize in std 1". there is a printed 6/- price on inside endpaper. The boards have a look of dustiness over them, but this is due to the paper being so thin and fine, the cardboard underneath gives it a textured feel with a darker vein overall, this should not be viewed as damage or ingrained dirt. Contents Very Good+. Tall slim small folio. 1943. Rare.
