[281]-495 - Table des matieres, p. [497]-525. -- 'Astruc's contribution to the formation of the "Older Documentary Hypothesis" is fundamental to Hebrew Bible scholarship. Essentially adhering to the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch, Astruc explains the origin of the book of Genesis (and Exod 1-2) [pre-Mosaic era] as a secondary connection of two continuous documents and another ten fragmentary documents. While Moses arranged these documents side by side in four columns, a later hand has woven them into a single narrative. Astruc's criteria for source criticism are repetitions, the variation of divine names and chronological discrepancies.'
