Aggiungi al carrelloHardback. Condizione: Good to Very Good. First UK Edition. 1935. First UK edition (the book was originally published in Hungary under the title 'Elefantorszag' in 1934). xi, 208pp., a frontispiece portrait of the author, numerous black and white illustrations (all listed are present), and a map. Count Zsigmond Széchenyi (1898-1967) was a Hungarian hunter, traveler and writer. An outstanding figure of the Hungarian hunting culture, he hunted in Africa, India, Alaska and various parts of Europe. At the end of 1932, he returned to Kenya for the first time in three years. In this book he writes of his travels in East Africa, hunting big-game, until he left again in 1934. It includes chapters on elephants, a witch doctor, the greater kudu, termites, buffalo, and lions. The book is bound in the original black cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in good to very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling together with patchy but faint fading, probably the result of damp. The cloth on the corner tips is worn and the spine ends are bumped with wear to the cloth and a little damage to the bottom rear spine corner. The spine is slightly cocked with some wear down the spine edges. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few small marks and some scattered foxing. The foxing is mostly light although the first few pages, including the title-page, and the last page and map at the end of the book are a bit more heavily affected. There is also foxing on the edges of the text block. There is an inscription on the front free endpaper and two small (Budapest) bookseller's labels on the bottom edge of the front fixed endpaper.
