This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder due to inadequate production of insulin from the pancreas or the resistance to its action on the body. Prevalence of diabetes is increasing throughout the world which necessitates the working on newer compounds to cure the disease. Drugs recently used for the treatment of diabetes have many adverse effects. In addition, none of these sufficiently controls the complications of diabetes such as hyperlipidemia. Hence there is an immense need to explore local plant resources to develop a better oral hypoglycemic agent. Many plants have shown significant hypoglycemic activity but there is rising interest in plants having both hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects since hyperglycemia is often associated with hyperlipidemia. Brassica oleracae is widely used as a vegetable and also as a remedy for different diseases all around the world. Present study reveals the potential of Brassica Olerace extract as a natural hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and antithrombotic agent. Hence there is a tremendous need to identify the dietary components which may play a vital role in future discovery of novel drugs. 192 pp. Englisch.
