Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - Before Amenthas was born as a dark-skinned human with silver hair and eyes, he was something unimaginable.Tempus Ante (Time Before) is a tale of who he was before he was a human physician in the Al-corian interstellar empire. In a string of short novellas, the tale of Amenthas' before-life existence is laid out. The tale explains the origins of Amenthas' arcane power, the realm that he originated from and which spirit beings he met. Oddly enough, these spirit beings actually roamed around and created a society in a place where all concepts found in the physical universe originated. Before his birth as a human in the physical dimension, Amenthas existed for eons as a universal concept and a spirit being that strangely ended up influencing the actions of humans in the physical dimension. The novellas show how he and the other spirit beings sometimes influenced the actions of individuals on various worlds, sometimes unwittingly and other times intentionally, ultimately shaping civilisations and cultures over vast stretches of time. The stories also explain the rationale for their intervention and explains why various human-like species (not always specifically Homo Sapiens) is common throughout quite a lot of the universe. The novellas answer questions about this 'before life' spirit realm and whether the spirit beings are generally benevolent or malevolent and lays out the rationale for their individual actions. What would you do, if you found out that you were essentially the definition of a universal concept in an amortal existence and had godlike power Would you choose benevolence and order or harbour malevolent, self-seeking intentions Would you ever give it all up.…

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. The Al-corian medical guild, an organization that looks after the healthcare of trillions in the interstellar empire, is probably the greatest bastion of scientific knowledge in the known universe. Running countless schools, clinics, hospitals and temples, it is also sometimes known as "The Great Paradox".Finn (the renamed Aktun, because of his membership into a tribe) ends up going to Baldera on the demand of a ghost physician. Located at an interstellar crossroads, Baldera is a planet that has a strong guild presence. Thousands head there from neighbouring star systems seeking medical care. Baldera is a world filled with technological wonders, but also odd anachronistic contradictions. It is on this odd water world that Finn has to face the guild with all its traditions, challenges and contradictions. Although an organization made up of decent and hardworking members, it nevertheless has some odd and somewhat questionable characters. It is through his interaction with some of these guild members that he ends up confronting some of the guild's deadly sworn-enemies and unfortunately runs into an enemy from his own past as well.Confronted by enemies on all sides, and without the support of family or old friends, Finn has to unfortunately accept help from a ghost that seems to have ulterior motives in guiding him. An entity that has powers over life, death and other unimaginable things. Will Finn manage to survive Baldera and the guild or will he end up losing everything that he is?
