Bringing together a stunning array of antiwar, anti-Bush, and anti-Blair graffiti from the United States, Canada, Europe, Middle East, Japan, and Australia, this gritty, controversial collection captures many unique images which have survived only a few hours between execution and clean-up. Including a chronology of opposition to the war organized by continent, and commentaries by the graffiti artists themselves, this work constitutes an essential record of political opposition since 9/11. Every major city is featured, including London, New York City, Paris, Tokyo, Milan, Baghdad, Tehran, Berlin, Munich, Marseilles, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sydney, Melbourne, and more. Prima edizione
Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition. In English. Apparent First edition (NAP). You can see the green covers in the photographs. They are in very nice condition, very clean, one small, light spot off the front bottom edge and one on the rear cover. The labels are in excellent condition. The interior of the covers, including the folds, look perfect. The ribbon is solid. There is sun fading on the spine and adjacent as well as off the top and bottom edges of the front and rear. Structurally, the covers are in excellent shape. The six booklets that fit inside of the covers are all in excellent condition. They have the look of never having been used, read. I didn't see any soiling on any of the six covers or on any of their pages. I saw one very thin crease on one page in one booklet. I didn't see any of wear on any of the pages in any of the booklets. And there are no markings, no attachments, and no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. This project was made possible by the funding of the Banque Nationale de Paris, and when I purchased these books there was a holiday card inside from the bank with the signatures of four individuals who one would assume worked at the bank and were involved in the project. Also included is an envelope from the Bank with their New York address. Finally there is a two-page (four sides) letter or pamphlet (I can never think of the word to describe these things) with a printed letter from Michel Pebreau, President-General Director of the bank, and another from the Director of the Musees de France, Francoise Cachin. Here are the titles of the six booklets and works of art and their artists: The Marriage of the Virgin by Perugino; Stage cloth for the Theatre du Peuple, known as the 'Quatorze-Juillet Curtain by Pablo Picasso; The Bear Hunt and The Ostrich Hunt by Carle van Loo; The Ecstasy of Saint Francis, Saint Francis Receiving the Infant Jesus from the Virgin, and Saint Bonaventure, by Petrus Paulusl Rubens; The Presentation of the Virgin at the Temple by Philippe de Champaigne; and The Appearance of Christ to his Mother by Guido Reni. Each of the booklets runs approximately 30 pages. There are quite a few essays, typically at least two within each booklet. A few of the writers: Alain Tapie, Alain Mousseigne, Gilles Barabant, Beatrice Sarrazin, Elisabeth Martin, Xavier Salmon, Alexis Donetzkoff.
