Johann Jacob Grümbke (1771 - 1849) was a German historian and geographer. He extensively researched the history and geography of Rügen and illustrated his own works. A Tour through the Island of Rügen was Grümbke's pointed response to what he considered as inaccurate and sometimes erroneous travelogues by some of his predecessors. He describes his wanderings across the island of Rügen in 12 letters dated from July 26, 1803, to October 7, 1803.
